The Auditor-General has told Parliament's finance and expenditure select committee she has no intention of determining how much money was lost because of Treasury's mismanagement of the retail deposit guarantee scheme.
Lyn Provost said her office was more concerned with ensuring the Treasury learns from the mistakes it made in its initial monitoring of the guarantee scheme.
She later said she would talk to the Treasury about what information it could provide on the potential losses caused by its lack of monitoring.
