Maori Party 'rebrand' aims to win back voters

6:05 am on 26 October 2012

The Maori Party goes into its annual meeting in Greytown this weekend with a plan to rebrand itself after a disappointing result at last year's election.

The hui-a-tau is the first since the election, in which the party lost one of its four seats and suffered a significant drop in party vote support.

Party president Pem Bird says the party has been thinking about what it can do to regain support and will be discussing the options this weekend.

Mr Bird says the rebranding will include tightening up its message and figuring out how to broaden its support base.
