The Prime Minister's office says no offence was intended by a National Party image denoting doctors as men and nurses as women.
John Key posted the promotional material on Twitter.
In it, the National Party says the Government has delivered better public services, which includes 1000 extra doctors and 2000 extra nurses.
Doctors are depicted as male and nurses as female.
The Green Party co-leader, Metiria Turei, says she takes issue with the content and that the material is deeply sexist.
She says it does not represent the reality of staffing within the health sector and that in fact there are now more female medical graduates than male.
The Prime Minister's office says the diagram was only intended to illustrate the gains made in health and no offence was intended.
