Aucklander Carol Beaumont has been officially named as the person who will replace Charles Chauvel on the Labour Party list.
Mr Chauvel resigned from Parliament to take up a position with the United Nations in New York.
Ms Beaumont has previously been an MP for Labour but was too far down on the party list to secure a seat after the 2011 election.
She'll be sworn in as an MP on Wednesday.
