Labour says EQC breached privacy again

11:03 am on 28 March 2013

Labour MP Clayton Cosgrove says there has been another privacy breach at the Earthquake Commission.

The commission has had to apologise for accidentally emailing information about 83,000 Canterbury earthquake claimants to a firm that works with people making insurance claims.

Mr Cosgrove said no names were attached in that information, but a local resident has come to him with information that was sent to them by accident from the commission.

He said the information is a full property assessment, with names and addresses on it.

Mr Cosgrove said Prime Minister John Key brushed off the last privacy breach and it is now time someone was held accountable.
