PM expects privacy breaches' report soon

10:40 pm on 2 April 2013

Prime Minister John Key says he expects the report on privacy breaches within government agencies to be completed soon.

Chief information officer Colin MacDonald is working on the report to identify how government agencies can improve their management of confidential information.

Mr Key says Mr MacDonald is working with chief executives re-affirming expectations about privacy.

He says given it is so easy for a human error to result in large amounts of private information being leaked, it is important robust systems are put in place to prevent such breaches.

The report follows recent breaches by the Earthquake Commission and the Accident Compensation Corporation.
