Maori broadcaster Te Hamua Nikora will be the Mana party's candidate in the Ikaroa Rawhiti by-election.
The seat has been left vacant by the death of Labour MP Parekura Horomia in April.
Te Hamua Nikora is a nephew of Mr Horomia and says he will do his best to live up to the great legacy his uncle has left.
He says his priority is to help the people believe in themselves again, and he will be stomping the pavement to meet as many voters as possible before the by-election.
The Maori Party's candidate is Na Raihania. The Green Party will select its candidate on Friday, and Labour will announce its candidate on Sunday.
The by-election will be held on 29 June.
