Govt asked to deal with street prostitution as a priority

New Zealand First is asking the Government to make reducing street prostitution and the number of underage prostitutes a priority.

On Thursday, Prime Minister John Key told Parliament he did not think the Prostitution Law Reform Act 2003 had worked in dealing with street prostitution.

But he ruled out law changes and suggested councils create bylaws to deal with the problem themselves.

New Zealand First MP Asenati Lole-Taylor said councils do not have the capacity or the power to deal with unwanted street prostitution.
