Finance Minister Bill English says he will discuss with those involved on Monday how his ministerial car ended up parked on double yellow lines and blocking a disabled parking spot.
His driver pulled up illegally for almost an hour in Wellington on Thursday while Mr English got his hair cut.
Mr English says it is up to the drivers where they park.
"The drivers are usually professional and reliable and on this occasion they made a mistake, and they should keep the rules."
Mr English says if there is a fine to be paid, he will pay it.
