The head of the Legal Services Agency (LSA) has lost his job, following a scathing report on the legal aid system by Dame Margaret Bazley.
LSA board chair Sir John Hansen says chief executive Tim Bannatyne's job has been disestablished and a transition manager appointed.
Sir John says Justice Minister Simon Power has made it clear he expects a swift response to the findings of the review.
He stresses the board's decision is not a reflection on Mr Bannatyne, who will leave on 18 December.
Four members of the LSA's board resigned after the report was issued.
