Parker rejects communication criticism

11:14 am on 18 September 2013

Labour's newly appointed deputy leader David Parker has rejected criticism that he is a poor communicator.

Prime Minister John Key does not think Mr Parker's up to the job and says he will be no match for Bill English.

Mr Parker says every politician has to be a good communicator but he is no used car salesman.

Mr Parker says he, David Cunliffe and the defeated party leader candidates had discussions on who should be the deputy and are focused on preparing for Government.
