CTU president stands by call for ACC Minister to resign

5:25 pm on 1 October 2013

Council of Trade Unions president, Helen Kelly, is standing by her call for the Accident Compensation Corporation Minister to resign over comments she made about ACC.

Judith Collins told the National Business Review that comparatively few accidents happen in the workplace, although those injuries tend to be more serious.

Helen Kelly says the Minister is effectively saying there is not a health and safety issue in New Zealand workplaces, and should resign.

She says New Zealand has dramatically poor workplace safety figures.

Judith Collins says she won't resign, as she was simply stating a fact that about 20% of the accidents ACC deals with are in the workplace.
