Finance Minister Bill English says he is not worried by a legal challenge from the Bank of Tokyo to the Government's proposed restructuring of coal company Solid Energy.
But the Labour Party has criticised Mr English's handling of the matter, saying he should have got all the banks to agree before announcing a deal.
Mr English announced at the beginning of October that the Government had done a deal with the major banks which held much of Solid Energy's debt.
But the Bank of Tokyo has gone to court to challenge the Government's plan.
Mr English says it was always clear the Bank of Tokyo opposed the deal and he is not worried by its court challenge.
Labour's State-owned Enterprises spokesperson Clayton Cosgrove says Mr English should have made that clearer at the time.
Mr Cosgrove says the Government can't say a deal is done if one of the banks is taking it to court.
