NZ First buoyant heading in to annual conference

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is feeling empowered heading into his party's annual conference in Christchurch this weekend.

Mr Peters says the instability of the Government is growing, and he is more certain than ever that his party will decide who governs after the next election.

New Zealand First was voted back into Parliament at the last election, after a term in the political wilderness.

It won almost 7% of the vote, giving it eight MPs.

Mr Peters says the party wants to double that number in 2014.

He says New Zealand First will be in a very influential position as to who will govern because both National and Labour are on the decline.
