NZ and Indonesian foreign ministers to meet in Auckland

5:04 pm on 31 October 2013

The Foreign Affairs Minister is meeting his Indonesian counterpart in Auckland on Thursday and will discuss trade and growing political ties between the countries.

Murray McCully says he will be meeting Marty Natalegawa for the 6th annual Indonesia-New Zealand Joint Ministerial Commission.

Mr McCully says Indonesia played a strong role when it chaired the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and that New Zealand welcomes Indonesia playing a greater role in the Asia-Pacific region.

New Zealand exports to Indonesia each year are more than $800 million and Mr McCully says there is huge potential for this to grow.

New Zealand's aid programme in Indonesia is its largest outside of the Pacific.
