The Labour Party says Mr Dunne should not have responsibility for data security.

When Mr Dunne welcomed his reinstatement as a minister last week, he pointed out that one of his roles would be protecting the privacy and security of information.

Labour MP Trevor Mallard asked him in the House on Thursday how he reconciled that with his action last year in leaking a confidential report to a member of the Press Gallery.

Mr Dunne has repeatedly denied leaking the Kitteridge report, but avoided doing so again in the House. He said he would carry out properly the responsibilities entrusted to him as minister.
