Key won't say if more drone deaths in Yemen

The Prime Minister says he is not in a position to say whether any other New Zealanders have been killed in counter-terrorism drone attacks in Yemen.

Last week, it emerged that a New Zealander known as Muslim bin John was killed in Yemen in a drone strike in November 2013.

John Key on Tuesday would not say if any other New Zealanders have been killed there recently.

Mr Key said he would not necessarily have been public about the man killed in November either, out of respect for his family, for a start.

New Zealand intelligence agencies monitor New Zealanders who they believe present a potential terrorist threat and Muslim bin John was without doubt in that category, he said.
