Greens conference kicks off

11:53 pm on 31 May 2014

The Green Party's annual conference kicked off on Saturday with policy announcements to target voters with families.

The conference stretches over the long weekend at the Silverstream Retreat in Lower Hutt.

The past week has been dominated by the emergence of Internet Mana and the announcement of the Internet Party's leader, Laila Harre, who is a former Green Party member.

The Green Party co-leader, Metiria Turei, said she was not worried by that and was focused on party policies.

She says if people want a genuinely progressive government, they should give their party vote to the Greens.

Ms Turei and an Australian Green Party senator, Scott Ludlam, address members on Saturday.
