Prime Minister John Key's popularity appears to be underpinning support for National, with the latest poll giving him 48 percent support for the top job and his party 52 percent.
The One News-Colmar Brunton poll shows that, in contrast to Mr Key's good showing, only 8 percent of respondents prefer Labour Party leader David Cunliffe for prime minister and 28 percent support Labour.
The Green Party scored just 10 percent, which left the two parties trailing well behind National, similar to other polls out this month and earlier.
New Zealand First got 4 percent support, while none of the other minor parties did better than 2 percent.

He refused to speak to Radio New Zealand but released a statement saying Labour could still win from here and that it would be doing its utmost to get its supporters out to vote.
The One News-Colmar Brunton poll surveyed about 1000 people in the first half of last week and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent.
