Finance company inquiry urged

5:57 am on 23 March 2009

An ACT MP is calling for an official inquiry into the activities of finance companies.

A report by the companies registrar identifying inexperience and incompetence in failed operators has put the role of those involved in the finance sector under scrutiny.

ACT MP John Boscawen wants support for a wider official inquiry into the failures.

He says some consumers could well have been victims of fraud and it is time to tighten regulations.

John Boscawen says support will be needed from all parties for an inquiry to take place.
