ACC minister Nick Smith has indicated it will be at least 2011 before the Government looks at allowing private insurers to compete with the corporation.
National's election manifesto included a policy to investigate the introduction of competition into ACC's work account.
Labour has accused the Government of manufacturing a crisis at ACC to justify an agenda of privatisation. However, Dr Smith says his priority for this year is seeing an ACC reform bill through Parliament.
He says he will look at the corporation's finances and investments next year.
