Dunedin's mayor Dave Cull has again denied his greatest critic on the city council any portfolio responsibilities.

Three years ago, Mr Cull did not offer Lee Vandervis any of the positions as a committee chairperson or deputy chairperson, saying he had no confidence in the outspoken councillor.

Despite Mr Vandervis being returned as the highest-polling councillor in the local government elections two weeks ago, Mr Cull has again bypassed him for positions.

A report to the council's inaugural meeting next Tuesday shows Mr Cull has given every one of the 14 other councillors a position.
