A Labour Department survey says the majority of immigrants to New Zealand settle well and start contributing to the economy soon after arriving.
Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman says new research shows more than 90% of immigrants are very satisfied with life in this country.
The longitudinal immigration survey suggests that, overall, new immigrants adjust well and begin contributing to the economy quickly.
Dr Coleman says the results emphasise the contribution skilled immigrants make to New Zealand.
He says immigrants contribute about $1.9 billion per year to the economy.
