Author Nicky Hager says a review by police of their investigation of the Don Brash email case is a waste of time and money.
Hundreds of the former National Party leader's emails formed the basis of a book by Mr Hager, The Hollow Men, about the 2005 election campaign.
Police on Thursday announced the review after suggestions of police incompetence or political bias by Dr Brash.
Mr Hager says the review is unlikely to support the former party leader's claims.
