Free trade deal agreed with Malaysia

New Zealand has concluded a free trade agreement with Malaysia although technical details of the deal have to be checked before both countries sign it.

Trade Minister Tim Groser says the deal includes benefits which are greater than those already in the trade agreement reached with the Association of South-east Asian Nations, of which Malaysia is a member.

Mr Groser says it is an important signal that both countries have committed themselves to free trade in the midst of the global financial crisis.
