Labour Party insists complainant is credible

Labour Party leader Phil Goff is defending the credibility of the woman accusing National Party MP Richard Worth of sexual harassment.

Neelam Choudary is an active member of the Labour Party, who claims Dr Worth made sexually explicit phone calls and sent her 40 text messages, while offering her two jobs.

She has written to Prime Minister John Key detailing her version of events and providing copies of some of the texts.

Mr Goff says she does not have a political axe to grind.

He says her credibility is without question and there was never any effort to hide the fact she has close links to Labour.

The Prime Minister's office says it has received the complainant's letter but is making no further comment.

Dr Worth is also facing a police investigation into a separate complaint from another woman.
