Key defends economic record

Prime Minister John Key has defended the Government's record in supporting the economy and boosting employment during the recession.

He admits more work is needed but says that only a range of tactics, from infrastructure to the design of the tax system, would be effective.

Mr Key told Morning Report he can't "magic away" the global outlook and unemployment will continue to rise.

But, he said, the Government can take the rough edges off the recession to help people into work.
