Maori Party would support stronger ETS

The Maori Party says it will support an amended Emissions Trading Scheme if it's made stronger.

A select committee reviewing the scheme was due to report back to Parliament on Thursday, but was delayed after the Maori Party pulled a minority report.

The Emissions Trading Scheme aims to control New Zealand's greenhouse gas emissions.

Oppostion parties say the Government is pressuring the Maori Party.

National is in negotiations with all parties over support to make changes to the current scheme.

Rahui Katene says the Maori Party is being courted by National, among other parties, about its support.

She told Morning Report the party does not consider the current ETS supports the environment enough, but the party would certainly vote for changes if it was stronger.
