PM keen on Memorial Park for capital

7:07 pm on 2 September 2009

Prime Minister John Key has indicated he is keen to progress work on a Memorial Park in central Wellington.

Work was supposed to start in March on an $18 million park beside the National War Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.

But the Government put the plans on hold, saying the previous Labour-led government did not commit enough money to the project.

Mr Key says the delay was to allow a stocktake of infrastructure spending and he is keen to see work progress.
