ACT to talk to function organisers about the rules

8:03 am on 23 October 2009

ACT is to talk with the organisers of small scale party fundraisers, following accusations the party is abusing its ministerial positions.

ACT leader Rodney Hide and deputy leader Heather Roy will attend separate fundraising breakfasts next month, where they will talk to paying audiences about their portfolios.

Ms Roy says the events have been organised by party members, who as volunteers are often not aware of the rules.

Under Cabinet rules, Ministers of the Crown cannot accept additional payment for anything regarded as a Ministerial function.

Ms Roy says the Cabinet office has cleared ACT of wrongdoing, and any surplus from the functions will go to charity.
