Former National MP Richard Worth will not face any criminal charges after police ruled there is no case to answer.
Dr Worth resigned as Internal Affairs Minister in July after a complaint of a sexual nature was made against him to the police.
The complaint was later withdrawn but the police investigation continued.
The police released a statement on Friday saying that after a careful and thorough investigation, there was no basis for proceeding with criminal charges.
In a statement in June, Dr Worth said he was confident that when the facts were established he would be cleared of all allegations of criminal conduct.
