Screen industry concerned about Section 92a

The film industry says it has serious concerns about proposed changes to the Copyright Act for digital piracy.

Section 92 A of the act has been revised, after protests over rules which would have forced internet service providers to disconnect customers accused of piracy.

The changes mean disconnections will happen only if piracy is proven in court.

The Screen Directors Guild and the Screen Production & Development Association say the new rules do not appear to be any simpler than those already in place and there's a risk that rights holders will still face lengthy court processes.
