Resign call made over comment by minister

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society wants New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully to resign over comments he made about the organisation.

Mr McCully told Summer Report on Friday that if people are determined to break the law and determined to kill other people on the high seas, then it is not the responsibility of the New Zealand Government to send armed vessels to stop them.

His comment followed the collision of a Sea Shepherd protest boat and a Japanese whaling ship in Antarctic waters on Wednesday.

The boat, the Ady Gil, sank under tow on Friday morning.
