ACT 'in death zone', says leader

ACT leader Rodney Hide says the party is sitting in the "death zone" of New Zealand politics and its MPs will be working to lift the party's profile in 2010.

The party is beginning its second year as a support party in the National-led Government.

Mr Hide says ACT needs to show voters it can work with the National Party and is making a difference, but he says it is difficult to get the party's message across in a Government support capacity.

Nevertheless, he says the party is ambitious and he wants to go into election year in 2011 with voters confident they can give their party vote to ACT and get a stable government in return.
