Public meetings to be held on super-city final bill

11:30 am on 27 January 2010

Labour and the Greens are to hold public meetings in Auckland to encourage people to make submissions on the final piece of legislation setting up a super-city at the next local elections.

With the consultation period occurring over the summer break and ending on 12 February, they say many Aucklanders are unlikely to have had time to read the bill.

Both parties say the bill fails to set out the powers of community boards as the Government had promised.
