PM reminds Labour of track record on asset sales

6:52 pm on 25 May 2010

Prime Minister John Key has gone on the offensive over asset sales, reminding the Labour Party of its track record on the issue.

Labour leader Phil Goff has attempted to take Mr Key to task, trying to suggest such sales are part of the National Party's agenda.

But Mr Key took the opportunity in Parliament on Tuesday to remind Mr Goff about the Labour leader's past experience on asset sales, reading out a long list starting with Telecom and including State Energy, New Zealand Post, New Zealand Steel, Petrocorp, Maui Gas and the National Film Unit.

Mr Key says the Government will start working on its policy of asset sales in the latter part of this year and will have a clear policy by the 2011 election campaign.
