Chauvel appointed to UN group on HIV

Labour Party MP Charles Chauvel has been appointed to a United Nations group dealing with HIV and related legal issues.

The group will work on policies and make recommendations on human rights issues such as the criminalisation of HIV transmission, drug use, sex work and gay sexual relations.

Mr Chauvel will join 13 other commissioners from around the world who will meet three times during the 18 months, and also take part in regional meetings.
