The Green Party is calling on the Government to disclose details of New Zealand involvement in an international spy agreement dating from the Cold War.
Details of the 1946 UK/USA intelligence sharing agreement have been made public by the National Archives in Britain.
Canada signed the agreement in 1948 and New Zealand and Australia did so in 1956.
Green MP Keith Locke says it puts New Zealand in a subordinate position to British and American intelligence.
He wants the Government to release documents showing what the agreement has committed New Zealand to.
A spokesperson for the Prime Minister says New Zealand has a longstanding tradition of not commenting on matters of national security.
