McCully headed for conference in Afghanistan

Foreign Minister Murray McCully leaves on Friday on an overseas trip that will take in an international conference in Afghanistan.

Mr McCully says the conference, in Kabul on 20 July, is being held at a critical time for Afghanistan's government and people, as well as for countries that are committed to its security and stability.

On the way to the conference the minister will visit the United Arab Emirates, where he will discuss the two countries' trade and political relationship with its foreign minister.

Mr McCully will visit Vietnam on his way home and take part in a series of meetings related to the Association of South East Asian Nations.
