Key faults NZ pavilion at World Expo

The New Zealand pavilion at the World Expo in China has come in for some veiled criticism from Prime Minister John Key.

Asked to comment on New Zealand's trade branding after making a foreign-policy speech in Wellington, Mr Key said New Zealand needs to do a better job at promoting itself as a smart economy.

He used the World Expo pavilion as an example, saying that when he went through, the message was that New Zealand was a great place to have a holiday.

The cost of setting up and running the pavilion for the six months of the Expo is about $30 million.
