Four compete to stand for Labour in Mana

Four people are vying to be the Labour Party's candidate to stand in the Mana by-election.

The incumbent, Labour MP Luamanuvao Winnie Laban, is resigning to take a job with Victoria University.

The four are: Kris Faafoi, chief press secretary to the party's leader, business manager Michael Evans, defence barrister Peter Foster and communications consultant Josie Pagani.

The successful candidate will be chosen at a meeting in Porirua on 18 September.

The National Party has selected list MP Hekia Parata to contest the seat.
