Kedgley won't seek re-election

10:16 am on 17 September 2010

Green MP Sue Kedgley has announced she will step down from politics at the next general election.

This is Ms Kedgley's fourth term in Parliament as a list MP but she has told the Greens she will not be seeking its candidacy for the Wellington Central electorate nor a place on the party list for the next election.

Till then, she says, she will continue to campaign for food safety, animal welfare and geriatric care.

Ms Kedgley says that when she first came to Parliament the issues of food safety and animal welfare were not treated seriously but now they are firmly on the political agenda.
