Trade Minister Tim Groser, says he will ensure New Zealand's trade interests are kept alive during official talks in Washington this week.

Mr Groser is on a five-day visit to the United States where he will meet US Trade Representative Ron Kirk, senior members of Congress and business representatives.

He says he will use those discussions to push the case for a successful conclusion to the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, an eight country deal which involves both New Zealand and Australia.

Although the talks are at an early stage, Mr Groser says disagreement about access for dairy products remains a sticking point.
