Greens launch campaign to retain public assets

6:53 pm on 30 September 2010

The Green Party has launched a campaign to keep public assets in New Zealand hands.

Co-leader Russel Norman says the Government has backed off from selling Kiwibank but there are many other state-owned assets that would fall into foreign ownership if privatised.

He says these include New Zealand Post, Television New Zealand and KiwiRail.

Dr Norman says the National Government has said it will not sell any state-owned assets in its first term, but believes it is now identifying assets it can sell as part of its 2011 election campaign.
