More nominations expected for Te Atatu seat

8:20 am on 6 October 2010

Labour Party president Andrew Little is confident Chris Carter won't remain the sole nomination for Labour in the Te Atatu electorate.

Mr Carter is an independent MP in Parliament after being expelled by the Labour caucus, but remains a Labour Party member.

He faces a disciplinary hearing on 11 October over his criticism of the party's leader, Phil Goff, and could be suspended or expelled from the party.

Labour is looking for a new candidate in Te Atatu, for which nominations close on Friday.

So far, the only nomination is Mr Carter, but Mr Little expects that to change, saying he knows of at least four people interested in the candidacy.
