Minister to talk wool with Prince of Wales

9:34 pm on 12 October 2010

Agriculture Minister David Carter is to visit Balmoral Estate in Scotland and meet the Prince of Wales to discuss the "Campaign for Wool".

Mr Carter says Prince Charles is patron of the campaign to promote the efforts of Commonwealth farmers to restore profitability to the wool sector.

He says the meeting next week is a chance to discuss with the Prince the need to increase the demand for wool as a naturally renewable and sustainable product.

Before travelling to Scotland, Mr Carter will lead a delegation to the first Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation ministerial meeting on food security in Japan.

He will also hold bi-lateral talks with senior government ministers in Europe and Britain.
