Labour would scrap 90 day trial - Goff

Labour leader Phil Goff says one of the first acts of a Labour Government would be to axe the 90 day workplace trial.

Mr Goff made the announcement at the party's annual conference in Auckland.

The 90 day trial allows employers to sack employees during their first three months on the job.

At present it applies to companies with fewer than 20 employees, but will soon be extended to all businesses.

Mr Goff told delegates the first task of a Labour Government would be to repeal a policy that he described as intolerable to Labour.
