Dunne apologises over speech mix-up

6:24 am on 11 November 2010

Revenue Minister Peter Dunne has apologised to Cabinet Minister Jonathan Coleman for giving him the wrong speech to read to Parliament.

Dr Coleman delivered the speech, which was two years old, when he was standing in for Mr Dunne, introducing a taxation bill to Parliament.

He read the 10-minute speech despite other MPs shouting across the chamber, trying to alert him to his mistake.

Mr Dunne says his office gave Dr Coleman the wrong speech and he is hugely embarrassed about the mistake.

Mr Dunne tabled the correct speech in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon.
