The Government has signalled a shake-up of international education marketing, saying it wants just one entity promoting the country to foreign students.
Charitable trust Education New Zealand, the Ministry of Education and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise receive more than $13 million to recruit overseas students.
Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce says some in the sector are concerned there are crossovers among the three entities.
He says it makes sense to get maximum impact for the money invested and this is an opportune time to assess the situation, as the Government seeks to improve revenue generated by foreign students.
Mr Joyce says he is unable to indicate the cost of such a merger.
