Candidates for the Mana by-election have been busy with last-minute campaigning ahead of Saturday's by-election.
Labour won a 6000-vote majority at the last election but the Radio New Zealand reporter following the campaign says strong campaigning on the left and the right means that is under threat.
While Labour's candidate Kris Faafoi is expected to hold on to what is considered a safe Labour seat, the party's majority will undoubtedly be reduced.
On Mr Faafoi's right is National list MP Hekia Parata, who has built up solid support.
On his left is Unite Union general secretary Matt McCarten, who has made the most of the by-election to focus on economic issues, including low wages.
The Green Party and ACT are also standing candidates.
Labour knows complacent Labour voters could be a problem, so will be mobilising hundreds of its supporters to encourage people to get out and vote on Saturday.
